Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Race

Where the candidates stand on antisemitism

In September 2026, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) sent the same six questions to every candidate for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party. All four responded. Their answers are published here in full, as received.

The order changes every time this page loads. CJPAC does not endorse parties or candidates. The four candidates are shuffled at random each time someone opens the page.

Voting opens November 9

Members of the Ontario Liberal Party elect the next leader — and that person could become Ontario's Premier. In 2023, fewer than 23,000 people cast a ballot.

Voting period. Ballots are cast online.
Nov 21
Results announced and the new leader is revealed.
Who can vote: only people who were Ontario Liberal Party members as of September 7, 2026 are eligible to cast a ballot in this race. If you joined or renewed before that date, watch for your ballot by email. If you didn't, you can still read where the candidates stand — and share this page with someone who can vote.

How this page was compiled

These six questions were submitted to the Ontario Liberal leadership candidates by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) in September 2026. Responses are published here in full, as received, and are reproduced in the candidates' own words.

Responses were not edited for length, style or consistency. Candidates differ in how they write — one response is written in the third person by the campaign rather than by the candidate — and those differences have been left as they were submitted. Two candidates opened with general remarks before answering; these appear under “Opening statement”.

The only changes made were corrections to obvious typographical errors that do not alter meaning.

Differences in spelling between candidates — for example “anti-Semitism” and “antisemitism” — have been preserved rather than standardised.

CJPAC does not endorse parties or candidates. We encourage community members to engage across parties and at all levels of government based on their own values and priorities.
